This feed mill for Mar-Jac features 40,000-bushel-per-hour corn receiving; 220-ton-per-hour ingredient receiving; 100-ton-per-hour grinding system; 23 ingredient bins with 2,700 tons of storage; a 10-ton batching and mixing system, including one 20-bin micro system; and one liquid scaling system. The pellet mills are housed in a pelleting tower directly adjacent to the main mill tower, primarily to provide adequate operational and maintenance room for the pelleting system equipment. The fats coating utilizes a continuous-flow-style system with a surge hopper on loadcells and a weigh screw. Screw conveyors with multiple discharges and distributors are used for pellet distribution. Loadout utilizes a single driveway with a weigh lorry scale. This feed mill has a total finished feed capacity of approximately 2,540 tons.
Additional features to the feed mill include 500,000 bushels of grain storage in five silos and two interstice bins, one 2,400-ton soy meal silo with Laidig unloader, a tank farm for three liquids, two 40 hp air compressors, and two 400 hp gas/oil-fired boilers with one 800 hp electric boiler. One 500-pound manlift is used to provide vertical access from grade level to the roof. Under a separate contract, extensive site work related to engineering and construction of grading, railroad track, subgrade, paving, water, and natural gas and sewer were also completed on this project, along with permitting for building and environmental issues.
